Domain Hosting Options For Health Practitioners

When you head out into the world of websites, hosting is a common stumbling block for many people. You might just sign up with the first host you come across. But there are some good options, and not so good, out there. Here is some information about some of the most popular choices out there.

Siteground

Siteground is one of the better options to start with. Hosting is just $4.95US per month, with options to pay up front as well.

You can register a domain from $19.95US per year. Sites with .com.au are a little pricier, as with most companies.

The support with Siteground is excellent – they are very responsive.

Panthur

This is one of my favourite options, for a number of reasons. Firstly, Panthur is an Australian company. This means that there’s great support in the same timezone as you. This might sound silly now, but when your website crashes in the middle of the day, there’s no one to answer if you’re using US based hosting.

Panthur has web hosting from $5 per month, and domain from $12 per year. This makes it one of the more affordable options.

Panthur also has different billing options. So if you’re just starting out, you can start off with monthly payments. But you can also pay 1-3 years up front and save some dollars.

Wix

If you have a Wix website, they have Wix hosting available. Plans run from $4.50US-$24.50US per month. However, in order to get rid of the Wix advertisements, you’ll need a minimum of the $8.50US/month plan. This plan, and all higher plans, comes with a free .com domain.

If you need a store, you’ll be looking at a minimum of $16.50US/month. Bandwidth and storage varies among the plans.

Squarespace

Like Wix, Squarespace have hosting available for their sites. You’re looking at $22-25AUD/month, although there is a discount if you pay annually.

Domains can also be registered through Squarespace from $27AUD per year.

Crazy Domains & GoDaddy

As a web designer, I’m not a huge fan of either of these two options. From a backend perspective, they are complex and painful. If you want to make things easy on yourself, or your web designer, give them a miss!

What to look at when it comes to hosting

Ready to go and find yourself a host? Here are the things I recommend you consider as you compare your options:How much does it cost compared to others with the same features?

• What is enough space for your needs? Will you be able to upload documents?

• Is it a reputable company that doesn’t have crashes all the time?

• Can you also get your domain through them if you haven’t already?
