5 Steps To Nail Your Social Media Through Branding

Use consistent and on-brand images

As all of the social media platforms have a strong focus on visuals, you need to make sure your images are consistent. This means consistent with:

  • Your branding - particularly colours and visual elements

  • The topic you’re talking about in the post itself

  • Your ideal clients - no point in having an image of an energised 20 year old on a post about menopause symptoms!

  • Each other - i.e. you don’t have wildly different quality and style images

The most effective way to keep your images consistent? A professional photoshoot.

Make sure that you get a variety of photos taken - not just ones of you smiling at the camera! For example, you might want to get some action shots of vegetables being chopped up or a herbal blend being funnelled into a bottle. That way, you have your own set of ‘stock photos’ to use across your social media channels.

Utilise branded templates

So many practitioners tell me that they spend hours perfecting one Canva image for one social media post.

If you’re spending hours on one social media post, are you really going to get the return on investment you want? Or would you rather spend your time doing what you love?

One of the best ways to save yourself time and keep your social media consistently branded is using branded templates.

Templates that already incorporate your colours, fonts and logo have 90% of the work done for you already. So all you need to do is drop your image and line of content in, download, and you’re ready to post!

Don’t neglect your written content

Social media is an incredibly visual format. But that doesn’t mean that what you write isn’t an important part of your business and branding.

The language you use and don’t use tells a story about who you are as a practitioner and a person. You want to make sure that this all matches up with other aspects of your brand.

For example, if you have bubbly and colourful branding, but your posts are written in academic language, it might confuse your followers as to who you’re speaking to.

No matter what your branding, you still want to come across as a professional. So if you know you’re prone to typos, download a free program such as Grammarly to pick up on spelling and grammar mistakes before you hit post!

Choose your filters wisely

Even if your images and professional photos are on brand, the wrong filter can throw it off completely. That’s why it’s important to choose filters that complement your branding, and stick to 1-2 main filters.

For example, take a look at how much of a difference there is between these three images. Each uses the same photo of me - but the feel is completely different for each one.

The Clarendon filter is bright and playful, making your colours ‘pop’. This would be great if you worked with kids or boosting energy!

The X Pro II filter adds a lot of shadow and darkness for a strong contrast! If you want to make your images feel intense, give this a go.

The Inkwell filter converts your image to black and white. This would be great to use if your branding vibe was vintage/classic.

Make the most of your social media bio

Every social media platform you use has some form of bio section. But so many practitioners are under-utilising this! It might be that you’re not keeping it up to date, it doesn’t include all of the relevant info, or you’re not even using it at all.

For an amazing social media bio, make sure it covers:

  • Who you serve e.g. I work with exhausted mums who want to feel energised and inspired again

  • What you share (the topics you talk about)

  • The next step to work with you (be it a free opt-in, booking link or your service page of your website)

If you have the space to do so, you might also include something personal or unique about you. ‘Crazy plant lady’, ‘pole dance newbie’ or ‘coffee snob‘ might not directly relate to your approach as a practitioner. But it does give another way for your ideal people to feel like they know you.

Creating content for your social media shouldn’t be time-consuming and frustrating.

You have better things to do than sitting in Canva or Photoshop trying to figure out how to make an image that looks good AND is consistent with your branding!

A great branded template will have your business colours and logo ready to go. All you need to do is pop in any writing or image that you need, download and schedule it in!
