How To Fast-Track Your Website Creation

Do you want a beautiful, functional website created for you yesterday? Some practitioners want their website fast-tracked so they can get into being the amazing practitioners they are!

The good news is that if you want a website created quickly, there are steps you can take. This is what I recommend to all of my website clients to make website creation a smooth process.

Start with figuring out what you like and don’t like

You can’t have a beautiful website created for you if you don’t know what you want! Beauty and aesthetic appeal is in the eye of the beholder. So you need to get clear on figuring out what you do and don’t like in a website.

I recommend jumping onto Pinterest and creating a board of sites that you like or don’t like. Add a few notes about what it is about that particular site. It can be as simple as ‘love the minimalist design’ or ‘not a fan of the images used!’ This allows me to get into your head and craft a site based on what you want.

And don’t worry – I have no intention of copying someone else’s web design! This just allows me to understand what you want visually from your site. Combining the inspiration from your Pinterest board with your business branding is where the magic happens.

Know which platform you want to use

There are several website platforms you can choose from. Each have their benefits, but some do have their drawbacks. The right fit for you depends on what you want your site to be – both in the short-term and long-term.

When it comes to health practitioners, I often recommend Squarespace as a website platform. Squarespace is easier to maintain, offers everything that the average prac needs, and can be used to create a beautiful and aesthetic site.

Have a domain name purchased (or at least picked out)

To create a website, you need a domain name (the address people type in to reach your website). To get started, you need to purchase or at least pick out your domain name. That way, I can get to linking it up with your website host.

If you’re going to use Wordpress or Wix, I recommend purchasing your domain through Panthur. You can find a comparison of some domain hosting options here.

If you’re going to use Squarespace, you get a .com website domain for free with your hosting for the first 12 months. However, if you need a .com.au site, you will need to purchase your domain.

Gather your branding elements together

Your branding makes up a good percentage of your website. The sooner you can provide your branding elements, the quicker your website can come together.

This includes:

  • Your branding fonts – if you have the file or URL for me, it makes it faster. Otherwise, I can track it down as long as you know the name.

  • Your colour codes

  • Your logo – make sure it’s website friendly! 150x250 is the standard size for logos. It also needs to be in PNG format and no background colours.

Don’t have your branding sorted yet? I offer brand creation as an upgrade to website packages. Learn more about my branding service here.

Had a photoshoot? Send the images through

Another important piece of your website is your images. Images taken by a professional photographer are preferable, as they are high quality and will incorporate your branding.

If you’ve had a photoshoot with a photographer, send your images through ASAP. Combined with your branding elements, this gives me a skeleton of your site to start building and tweaking.

Before you send them through, name your images appropriately. The name of your images can contribute to your website’s SEO, so ‘IMG_54028523’ is a lot less useful than ‘ naturopath Perth fertility’.

Know your niche

Your website needs to be designed to appeal to your ideal clients. But if you don’t know who those people are, I can’t create a website to serve them!

That’s why it’s important to get clear on what your niche is, and what might appeal to them.

Not sure what your niche is or why it matters so much? Give this blog a read.

Write up your content as fast as you can!

This is the #1 reason why website creation takes longer than you might like. Without the content for your website, I can’t finalise the design. And if I can’t finalise the design, your ‘coming soon’ page will sit there for days or even weeks longer than what we’d both like!

Each website is a bit different. But most practitioners would require copy for:

  • Home Page

  • About Page

  • Services Page

  • Booking Page

  • Contact Page

  • Legals – Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy

You may also have other options such as a media page or a free resource page. For bonus points, you can also write up a few blog posts, so there is content for your readers to check out as soon as you launch.

Some handy website copy tips:

  • Spell-check your content! Don’t just rely on your spell-checker, as it can miss mistakes that are technically spelled correctly. Instead, read your copy out loud. That way, it checks your content for flow and readability as well as mistakes.

  • Include your hyperlinks in the copy. If you don’t know how to insert hyperlinks into your word document, make them a different colour so I know to add them in for you.

  • If you include notes for me, make sure you highlight them or change the font colour so I don’t copy them straight into your website! Pop it on a separate line and make it clear that you’re speaking to me, not your reader.

  • Don’t copy someone else’s terms and conditions or privacy policy! This is not going to cover your butt legally, because it’s not designed for your offers and services. It may also not be enough for your legal requirements as a practitioner.
Instead, I recommend getting templates from Michelle Whitehead. Her templates are far more affordable than outsourcing to a lawyer, but you can still tailor them to your needs.

Remember: some tech processes can take days!

Unfortunately, even IT is not always instant. There are some technical processes that can take days on end before your web designer can get to work. For example, if your host company doesn’t connect your records, I can’t even put up a ‘Coming Soon’ page!

Sadly, I have no influence over as your web designer. The best course of action is to contact the support team, as you are the paying customer.

The good news?

If you tick all of the above boxes, you could have a beautiful website up and running within 2 weeks.
